Summer suimsuit styles have continued to evolve and change since the invention of the swimsuit. The most stunning styles and design changes were those that took place during the sexual revolution. In the century of the 1900's the swimsuit has been under constant change from designers all over the world. Some of the most classic designs and swimsuit styles have emerged through out the 1900s and the style of bathing suits that resulted are still talked about today in the fashion of swimming apparel.

Some of the past favorites in swimwear include bohemian style bathing suits, bandeau style swimwear, retro style swimsuits, hippie style bathing suits, vintage style swimwear, corset style swimsuits and the 1950's style swimsuit. All of these different and evolving styles of swim wear have offered a unique taste and personality to the suits of today and kept us looking good in the past as well.

The bohemian style bathing suit was popular and is regaining a bit of popularity again. The knitted look offers a sexy, you can almost see through this appeal and is often adorned with colorful beads that accent the female body nicely. The colors of the bohemian swimwear are usually bright colors that fade into one another or tie dye designs that catch the eye. This fits right in with the 50's style swimwear as well. Although the bathing suits of the 1950's tended to cover more skin than those of today the sex appeal was still very present. There were very few articles of clothing that left as much skin as the 50's style swimming suit to be seen and so the forbidden was put on display at every watering hole across various countries and the world.

Any of the vintage style bathing suit designs left more to the imagination than the current styles today however at the height of their popularity they were the most revealing and often the most sexy articles of clothing around. The retro style swimwear brought a whole new side of sexual consciousness with it and it's innocent but sexy prints. There was no plaid, polka dot or cherry covered materials that stated the sex appeal that has since been recognized as that of the retro style. Retro style swimsuits for girls are cut less provocatively but still have the innocent and forbidden look of simple designs that draw our eyes to the class that has been restated so many times through out the years.

All of these past favorites are still available in some form today. Finding them may be a bit more difficult and the prices will be more drastic than they were fifty years ago for certain.
